Start with the instructions
Read the manual for your exact drone and controller before powering up. Identify the controls, setup steps and the manufacturer’s checks. Photographs in this guide illustrate a general setting; they do not establish model specifications or certify a location as suitable.
Plan the location
Before flying in the United States, use the FAA’s current resources to check the rules, airspace and any permissions that apply to your flight. Do not assume a place is suitable simply because it appears open.
Give yourself time to review the aircraft, surroundings and instructions. Stop if the equipment or conditions need attention.
